My Review

Billions of dollars, a young human female and a wolf pack enforcer tired of waiting for his mate, all play a part in Milly Taiden's Caged Heat, a rapidly paced and sinfully hot  paranormal romance.  Well developed characters, good dialogue, plenty of hot smexy scenes and a mystery kept me turning the pages to discover what would happen next.

After being a volunteer teacher in third world countries for five years, Samira "Sam" Suarez has plans to return home to the United States.  Her grandmother's death brings Sam home a little early, where she discovers she's inherited most of her grandmother's estate.  Discovering Riel Karven, a member of the Black Meadow Pack, is her neighbor is a pleasant surprise, especially since she's had a crush on him most of her life.

Pack enforcer Riel Karven, has known "Sam" is his mate for a very long time.  Unfortunately, he's never been able to get to know her - she runs off scared every time they meet.  Determined to claim her, and keep her by his side, Riel will do whatever it takes  - even if it means he'll have to court her like a human.

The scenes between Sam and Riel are fun and smoking hot; they have great verbal, emotional and physical chemistry.  Sam has always been attracted to Riel, though she's a little shocked at how quickly she finds herself giving into her desire.  She also can't understand why her body is suddenly acting strange; her senses are heightened and her desire for sex is out of control.  Riel knows Sam is human and that they need to build a relationship; he just can't understand why Sam suddenly smells like she's a werewolf in heat.  Ms. Taiden does a good job developing both Sam and Riel's characters; while their physical relationship moves rather quickly, they have known each other for years and they get along really well.

The secondary characters are well developed and play an important part in Sam and Riel's world.  From Riel's pack members to Natalie, Sam's best friend.  They really support and help them bond as a couple and also help to keep Sam safe.  We also meet Sam's relatives, a nasty, greedy, group of people, who need to learn that life and family mean more than money.

Will Riel be able to keep Sam safe and fully bond with his human mate?  Will Sam and Riel ever figure out why Sam's body is acting strange?  You'll have to read Caged Heat to find out, I enjoyed it and I think you will too.  While Caged Heat is the second story in the Black Meadow Pack series, I was able to read it on it's own, though I do plan to read the first book in the series.

My Rating:  4 out of 5 Stars
